Sam B. Bhayani, M.D.

Dr. Sam Bhayani is Assistant Professor of Surgery (Urology). He earned his bachelor's degree cum laude from Cornell University and his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine (WUSM). He remained at Washington University and Barnes-Jewish Hospital to complete residency training in surgery and urology, then went on to Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine as an instructor of urology and a fellow in laparoscopy. Subsequently, he joined the faculty at WUSM in his current position.

Dr. Bhayani has received many academic awards including the Aronberg Award for Academic Excellence, Pfizer Scholars in Urology Award, Outstanding Laparoscopic Surgeon, and First Prize in the Ambrose/Reed Socioeconomic Essay Contest. He is the member of several professional societies including the American Urological Association, Endourological Society and Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. Dr. Bhayani's areas of clinical interest include prostate, kidney, testicular and bladder cancer. He specializes in laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery, and has authored numerous clinical and scientific articles with leaders in the field. He also is experienced with open and laparoscopic nerve sparing radical prostatectomy. His research interests involve development of novel surgical techniques to treat urologic malignancy.
