James N. Heins, M.D.

Dr. James Heins is Professor of Clinical Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree magna cum laude from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha. Next he completed an Internal Medicine residency and was Chief Resident in Medicine at Barnes Hospital . After two years as a Research Fellow at NIH he returned to complete an Endocrinology Fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine.

He is on the Board of Trustees for the Civil Aviation Medical Association and has served on the Board for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Missouri as well as Senior Airman Medical Examiner for the Federal Aviation Administration. He holds membership at the American Medical Association, Metropolitan St. Louis Medical Society, Alpha Omega Alpha and Phi Kappa Phi.

A physician for over 46 years and author of many publications, Dr. Heins specializes in diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism.
