Dr. Richard W. Hudgens

Dr. Richard Hudgens is Professor of Psychiatry. He received his B.A. degree magna cum laude from Princeton University and his M.D. degree from Washington University where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha. Following residency training at the University of Virginia he served in the Air Force where he attained the rank of Captain. Since he returned to Washington University in 1963 he has served the University in many ways rising to the rank of Professor.

Dr. Hudgens is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and has been president of the Eastern Missouri Psychiatric Society. He is the author of many publications in the fields of psychiatry and medical education. His most recent book is The Enduring Principles of Good Psychiatry: Knowledge, Compassion, and Tenacity , published in 2004.
