Susan E. Mackinnon, M.D.

Dr. Susan Mackinnon is Professor of Surgery and Director of the Division of Plastic Surgery. Educated in Canada, she received her M.D. degree from Queens College in Kingston, Ontario. After she completed residencies in general surgery and plastic surgery she did fellowships in neurosurgery at the University of Toronto and hand surgery at the Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore.

Dr. Mackinnon has received the Medal award in surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and Nine Plastic Surgery Education Foundation Prizes from the American Society of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons. She is on the editorial boards of several journals including Microsurgery, Journal of American College of Surgeons and Journal of the Peripheral Nervous System. The author of more than 189 publications, her recent work has focused on nerve transplantation.
