James E. Marks, M.D.
Dr.
Marks grew up in a small Illinois town 200 miles north of St. Louis,
attended Knox College and entered Washington University School of
Medicine in 1961. After graduating in 1965 he spent seven years
in training, mostly at the University of Chicago, and was certified
by the American Board of Radiology to practice therapeutic radiology
or radiation oncology in 1972. He spent one-third of his career
teaching and doing research at Washington University School of Medicine,
one-third as Professor and Chairman of the Department of Radiotherapy
at Loyola University Chicago and one-third caring for cancer patients
at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis. He is a member
of many learned societies and previously served as the President
of the American College of Radiation Oncology. The author of more
than 125 research publications and other scholarly works, Dr. Marks
recently retired from clinical practice and looks forward to meeting
some of his student successors in the School of Medicine.
