Nancy Tye-Murray, Ph.D.
Nancy Tye-Murray is a Research Professor at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis , MO. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Iowa . Dr. Tye-Murray has written five books, including Foundations of Aural Rehabilitation: Children, Adults, and Their Family Members (2 nd Edition, Thomson-Delmar Learning, 2004 ). She has published over 100 scientific articles and book chapters. Her research interests include the effects of aging on audiovisual speech recognition, discourse comprehension, and lexical dictionaries of children who have hearing loss. She is also part of a multi-disciplinary team at Washington University looking at communication breakdowns in surgical operating rooms. She is the former Director of Research at the Central Institute for the Deaf and a former chief editor for Volta Review. Dr. Tye-Murray is the principal investigator of two NIH NIA RO1s, and co-principal investigator of an NIH NIDCD RO1. She has developed numerous aural rehabilitation programs, including Conversation Made Easy .
