Dr. Consuelo H. Wilkins
Dr.
Wilkins is currently an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine
in the Division of Geriatrics and Gerontology. She received her
B.S. and M.D. degrees, both from Howard University. She then completed
a residency in internal medicine at Duke University Medical Center.
While a college student, Dr. Wilkins was an intern for U.S. Senator
Trent Lott. Following this she came to Washington University to
do a fellowship in geriatrics. Dr. Wilkins joined the faculty in
July 2000 where her current responsibilities include an active clinical
practice, teaching fellows, residents and students and performing
clinical research. She is a member of several organizations including
the American College of Physicians, American Geriatrics Society,
American Medical Women's Association, the National Medical Association
and the Alzheimer's Association Speakers Bureau. Her research focuses
on evaluating cognitive function in older African Americans with
and without dementia and investigating the association of vitamin
D and osteoporosis among persons with Alzheimer's disease.
