Dr. Franz Wippold
Dr.
Franz Wippold, II is the Chief of the Neuroradiology Section and
Professor at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology.
He attends at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis Children's Hospital,
and Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital. Dr. Wippold is a graduate
of Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, and Saint Louis University
School of Medicine, where he was selected for Alpha Omega Alpha
membership and received the first Alumni Distinguished Student Award.
He has also received three awards for outstanding teaching and resident
education. As a retired military physician and former Chief of Neuroradiology
at Walter Reed Medical Center, Dr. Wippold holds a joint appointment
as Professor of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at the Uniformed
Services University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, Maryland.
His research interests include neuroimaging of the spine and head
and neck, as well as imaging resource usage in emergency departments.
He has served on several national committees in the field of neuroradiology
and has co-authored over 120 scientific articles, abstracts, and
chapters as well as a textbook on MR imaging.
